Income Collection Assistant - Local Authority
An exciting opportunity has arisen for dedicated, dynamic, and highly motivated Council Tax collection officer
- working from lists of cases at pre or post Final Notice stage contacting customers by telephone, email, letter and on occasion conducting face to face appointments.
- To ensure that the amount charged is correct and to discuss arrangements to pay outstanding council tax, promote direct debit, promote take up of welfare benefits, analyse income and expenditure to assess acceptable payment levels for priority debts.
- also occasionally negotiate payment on behalf of other Council teams such as HB Overpayment, Former Temporary Accommodation and Business Rates.
Candidates must have at least 2 years experience of Council Tax administration and excellent customer service skills to deal with diverse members of the public with a range of different issues and the experience to demonstrate that. They should demonstrate they have excellent negotiation skills and have knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits. They also need to be open to new ideas and be innovative in problem solving to achieve the right short and long term outcomes for the Council and the customer.Income Recovery Officer to join the Housing Team.
