Salary: £22,440 - £25,500 (pro-rata)

Due to the ongoing expansion of our services, we are seeking a dynamic and highly organised Placements Officer to join our fast paced and friendly Fostering team in Chesterfield

Five Rivers Child Care is a leading independent Social Enterprise, providing care and education services for children and young people throughout England and Ireland. Following the acquisition of our Partner Agencies – Foster Care Line, The Fostering Company North east and Safehouses. We are recruiting a Placements Officer to join the team at our Fostering office in Chesterfield to oversee and be the initial point of contact for referrals.

Working alongside the Supervising Social Workers, you will assist in the identification of potential foster carers following our matching process in order to create stable fostering placements to meet the needs of looked after children. Due to the nature of this role, you must always maintain confidentiality.

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to promote and maintain good working relationships with internal and external professionals
  • Customer focused
  • The ability to use numerical data and to create reports
  • IT literate and able to use Windows Excel, Word and Outlook
  • The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly.
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Good written, numerical and verbal competence.

An understanding of the operation of IFA’s in the Social Care sector and/or previous experience of working in the social care sector would be advantageous, although full training will be offered to the successful candidate

Job Description:

  • The main point of contact for referrals and information from Local Authorities.
  • To allocate referrals to Five Rivers’ staff and to ensure agreed timescales for responses to referrals are met.
  • To obtain additional referral information where necessary.
  • Maintain contact throughout with LA’s including follow ups of placement offers.
  • Maintain and update the foster carer profile database.
  • Maintain data on carer availability and referrals and create reports as required.
  • Liaise with foster carers on referrals as appropriate.
  • Support the work of the Carer Recruitment officer.
