Your Role:
*Developing and training the value stream engineers and team leaders in best practice approached with specific focus on a 'hands on' pragmatic approach
*Developing the engineering team identifying and meeting their training needs:
*Promoting engineering best practice
*Developing and coaching the value stream production engineers and engineering support staff in developing a 'hands-on', pragmatic approach with prioritisation and decision-making skills.
*Developing good problem solving and project management skills with the engineers
*Developing their engineers skills and approach for successful new product introduction and new equipment/process introduction, including production and cell layouts
*Encouraging and promoting continues improvement activities
*Demonstrating and encouraging a collaborative and constructive relationship between engineering , other departments and with all levels of the value streams
*Developing tooling and fixture design capabilities
*Installing a disciplined, structured & systematic approach.
*Ability to provide effective & timely reports and presentations
*Taking ownership of the value stream KPI's (SQDCP) along with the value stream leader and Lead Production Engineer.
*Lead and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) as necessary.
*Leading problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
*Supporting new product introduction and new equipment/process introduction.
*Defining, developing and maintaining processes, equipment and tooling as necessary.
*Collecting and analysing data to enable continuous improvements.
*Conducting and leading problem solving activities.
*Conducting new product and process introductions.
*Defining and improving standard work, work instructions and quality plans.
*Creating proposals for new cell layouts or re-layouts where required.
*Taking ownership of engineering projects and driving their successful conclusion.
*Working towards achieving on time delivery and quality measures for the engineering department.
*Liaising with suppliers and customers where necessary.
*Planning and organising maintenance/support of equipment.
*Identifying faults, investigating production problems and repairing equipment quickly and efficiently.
Your Experience:
*Driving improvements in a manufacturing environment.
*Knowledge of manufacturing best practice including lean, six-sigma, 5s and FMEA.
*Patient and approachable with a manner conducive to the training and developing of staff
*Ability to identify gaps in performance and coach staff in the relevant areas.
*A background within mechanical, electronics/electrical, production or manufacturing engineering.
*Previous experience of designing tooling and fixturing.
*Highly computer literate - MS Office, Cad, Pro E.
*Desirable, PLC & Software programming/diagnosing experience.
*Degree qualification in Industrial Engineering or an Advanced Level Apprenticeship
