Electrical Development Engineer.

Our client is a global organisation supplying to the defence, aviation, space, medical & transportation industries, providing high-speed, secure connectivity solutions.

For their Dundee facility we have an immediate requirement for a skilled Development Engineer.

As a Development Engineer, you will work under limited supervision to plan, develop and execute qualification and test of engineering designs to customer and industry specifications, providing immediate feedback to stakeholders when product fails or major issues encountered. Assess and suggests root cause and works to achieve issue resolution.

Duties & Responsibilities for the Development Engineer:

Recommend equipment for test and develop solutions for systems to improve efficiency and expand capability in the testing environment.

Interpret customer specifications and writes test procedures, test plans and test reports to qualify new and existing products.

Notify stakeholders at risk events or test failures in a timely manner.

Keep projects on time and notifies stakeholders of slippage of agreed upon timelines and suggest measures to mitigate impact.

Design and develop fixtures for testing and characterization of engineering designs.

Purchase items required for test and development of product.

Determine effectiveness of test procedures and methods ensuring adherence to specifications.

Set up machines, equipment and design/develop procedures for test.

Support updates to relevant areas of project management planning for NPI, including % of time spent on individual projects on a weekly basis.

Provide Sales, Product Line management and customer facing teams with proposed Test and Qualification content, test schedule and estimated test costs.

Very occasional local or international travel may be required.

Skills and Experience required by the Electrical Development Engineer.

Understanding and experience of electronic, mechanical, and environmental test equipment, software and procedures.

Knowledge and use of test equipment for DC testing, including at least a subset of the following: - Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, HiPOT, Signal Generators, Power amplifiers, Network Analysers, Power Meters and Spectrum Analysers.

Knowledge of MIL-Spec or other Space / Defence / Aerospace / Medical / Railway industry specifications would be advantageous.

Ability to perform root cause analysis utilising standard problem-solving tools and methodologies.

Knowledge of statistical methods and tools to determine product adherence to specification.

Knowledge of 3D modelling, using drawing and simulation packages would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will come from a manufacturing / electrical / test or design background.

Qualifications:

Mechatronics, HND or Degree qualified in an Engineering (or similar) discipline.

This is a permanent position with a negotiable salary, 10% bonus per annum

The role
Reporting to the Business Systems Manager, you will be a key player in the implementation, support, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the company’s ERP System, Infor CloudSuite Industrial.
Being someone that learns fast, you will quickly be expected to understand business process and surrounding application functionality thereby becoming a knowledgeable champion of the solution that is one of the go-to people to support the business. As you will ultimately be supporting a wide range of internal customers and issues, someone that enjoys problem solving is essential.
You will be well organised, reliable and trustworthy with a positive outlook. You will have a can-do proactive approach, and can work to tight deadlines and deliver. Excellent communication skills and ability to multi task are essential for this role.
Key Deliverables
* Be a champion for the ERP solution
* Be instrumental in delivering a successful implementation for the ERP solution
* Providing ongoing varying levels of timely and quality application support to all staff both onsite and remotely, whilst maintaining support issue records
* Liaise, coordinate, schedule with other departments and IT team as necessary to resolve any application related issues
* Documentation: creation / amendment of agreed business process, flows and related procedures and training material
* Scheduling and delivery of channelled training programmes to users at all levels
* Accurate and timely system master data maintenance
* Ongoing involved participation in any business system meetings
* Assist in identifying, documenting and implementing new systems / functionality and process
