The role

My client secondary school are looking for a teacher of Science to teach KS3 and KS4 Science on a full time basis from January. The ability to also offer a specialism to A Level is desirable but not essential. This Science teaching post will commence on a long term supply/fixed term basis and has been confirmed for the remainder of the academic year. There is a possibility this Science teaching role will go permanent in the summer for the right applicant.

You will be required to provide assurance that the council is meeting its duties under Primary and Secondary legislation as a Landlord and effectively delivering a programme of gas safety (communal and domestic) inspections; water hygiene risk assessments and risk mitigation measures and undertaking proactive inspection and maintenance programmes to passenger lifts and work at height equipment to ensure systems function as designed, mitigating poor performance, system downtime and maintenance costs.

Duties to include:

To manage contractual relationships with service providers and oversee contractor performance, via monthly core group meetings, taking robust action, where contractor performance falls below a satisfactory level
Lead on the delivery of the council's statutory domestic gas and communal gas servicing programs ensuring that all, regulatory and policy requirements are complied with at all times
Lead on the delivery of water hygiene risk control programmes, ensuring that all systems are risk assessed, tested and maintained and appropriate actions taken in suitable timeframes.
Lead on the delivery of the council's statutory inspection program for passenger lifts, access and work at height safety equipment, ensuring that all, regulatory and policy requirements are complied with at all times.
In conjunction with the voids team, develop a suitable risk assessment and risk control process, to mitigate water hygiene risks inside dwelling flats.
Lead on the development of a gas carcass testing programme.
Lead on the development of a comprehensive in-flat fire detection asset register, ensuring all units are tested annually and replaced ahead of end of their life expectancy.
Lead on the development of a comprehensive carbon monoxide detection asset register, ensuring all units are tested annually and replaced ahead of end of their life expectancy.
Lead on the development of a comprehensive asset register for communal ventilation, extract systems and smoke control systems ensuring that essential, inspection, maintenance and refurbishment programmes are developed in conjunction with the asset management team.
Liaise with the Councils Property Services team to provide technical advice to support regarding the specification of replacement gas appliances or the upgrading of infrastructure.
Implement an inspection and proactive maintenance program for all ground source heat pump installations, across the stockQualifications:

Relevant trade qualification to Chartered Engineer or Member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year's post-qualification experience.
OR a minimum of 4 years general experience of Building services engineering qualified to HND level or similar
A City & Guilds or other accredited Legionella Responsible Person certificate (Desirable)technical qualificationKnowledge & Skills:

Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to the repair and maintenance of gas services and appliances; ventilation systems and water systems
Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to the repairs and maintenance of housing stockExperience:

5 years, experience in a similar role (Desirable)
Previous experience of working in a Local Authority or Housing Sector (Desirable)
Experience designing, installing or inspecting gas services or appliances for condition or defects and developing or scoping, detailed and accurate schedules of work
