Job Description: Shift Manager (35 to 40 hours)

£10.30 up to £11.50 per hour (pro rata). Part time hours are between 10 - 30 hours. Full time hours are between 31 - 40 hours.

What you'll do

•Lead and motivate your team, in accordance with our Leadership and Company Principles

Duties:

* Ensure full compliance against relevant BRC clauses for all aspects relating to material supply.

* Manage supplier approval through risk assessment, supplier audits and SAQ’s.

* Have a close relationship with food development and buying departments to benchmark new food ranges and understand the pipeline of new ingredient requirements.

* Manage raw material approval through HACCP assessments, specifications, material trials and current legislative standards.

* Own the technical relationships with key suppliers/products in the market, being involved with supplier onboarding and supplier performance reviews.

* Work closely with the Quality Intake department to ensure goods are accepted to specification through the use of detailed QSA’s and CoA’s where applicable.

* Introduce a raw material testing regime which complements current processes including VACCP.

* Investigate customer complaints relating to material suppliers, working closely with them in applying root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

* Be involved with packaging suppliers to deliver our packaging pledges.

* Support with the delivery of key departmental KPI’s.

* Deliver key business projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

* Work cross functionally to develop a strategic vision for driving product, supplier and supply chain integrity and performance

Skills & Experience Required:

* Qualified to a relevant Food Science, Food Technology or Microbiological degree standard or equivalent.

* Level 3 HACCP certified / Level 2 Health and Safety.

* Technical management and supplier facing experience in diverse product categories gained from Food Manufacturing, Retail or Food Service.

* Passionate about food quality with the ability to conceive and deliver strategic objectives relating to food safety and quality.

* Project management experience

* Experience of completing supplier approval audits.

* To maintain both sites, equipment and assets enabling sites delivery to customers of first quality product on time ad in full.
* To ensure staff conducting maintenance work are trained and competent to follow company procedures and work in line with quality, safety and environmental management systems.
Specific Duties
* To maintain integrity and operability of site buildings, infrastructure, fixed equipment, mobile plant, road tankers and on-farm tanks.
* To ensure statutory compliance inspections are carried out when required, liaising with insurers and contractor to take remedial action when non-compliance risk is reported.
* To administer the company’s maintenance management system, ensuring good work planning, execution and record keeping.
* To promote preventative maintenance, improving reliability and reducing safety and environmental risk, including planning and execution of maintenance shutdowns.
* To support plant improvement and development work and participate in hazard studies, including agreeing engineering standards.
* To support day to day maintenance and production activities.
* To agree revenue expenditure budgets for maintenance activity.
* To investigate faults and propose capital replacements/improvement of assets to improve resource and energy efficiency, operability, maintainability and to reduce life cycle cost.
* To define critical spares and support contract for sites.
* Promote robustness, efficiency and capability within the maintenance function, developing management systems to promote sustainability and best practice within the organisation.
Personal Requirements & Qualifications
* Knowledge and experience of mechanical and electrical maintenance in a relate industry is essential.
* Educated to HNC as a minimum in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline.
* Experience of management or small projects is important.
* An ability to lead teams and communicate effectively at all levels.
* A proactive approach and a can-do attitude with the ability to work without supervision and collect data to support decision making.
* An ability to take ownership and accountability and to make structured decisions confidently and methodically.
* Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic with n ability to work flexible and prioritise workload.
* Have a logical precise and accurate approach to work and ability to meet deadlines.
* Full UK Driving Licence as there will be inter-site travel.
Working Hours & Benefits
* Standard working hours are 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday, extra hours and weekends are expected during busy peak production times.
