Job Description: Element has an opportunity for a Testing Technician whose primary responsibility is to perform routine, metallurgical, mechanical, failure, corrosion testing facilitating metallurgy operations at site or at a laboratory.

Main responsibilities:

* Perform routine mechanical testing (tensile, bend, charpy impact, hardness) including CTOD and metallurgical testing (micro / macro examinations)

* Undertake AUT validation projects

Skills & Qualifications:

Job Description: Element has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Machinist to join our team in Newbridge, Edinburgh. As a member of the operations team, this position will receive the appropriate training to enable them to successfully perform the variety of machining operations required in order to produce high quality test samples, tooling, jigs and fixtures to support the testing operations of our growing business.

An understanding of machining operations and experience gained within a busy machining environment is essential but equally importantly we are looking for someone who is passionate about developing a career with one of the worlds leading testing, qualification and certification organisations.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor and working as part of the Machine Shop team, this role will be responsible for the production of the various components required for the testing of our client’s materials, with key responsibilities including:

* Performing machining and cutting operations relating to the specialist operations of the laboratory in accordance with recognised standards or internal specifications

* Performing routine preventative maintenance on workshop equipment

* Ensuring that measuring devices are accurate and within calibration when being used

* Ensuring that worksheets are filled out correctly and in accordance with internal procedures

* Monitoring the availability of workshop consumables

* Assisting the ‘booking in’ of jobs in goods received area when required

Skills & Qualifications:

* Significant machining experience

* Demonstrable experience in the safe operation of conventional machine tools i.e. turning, milling, grinding

* Demonstrable competency in the safe operation of CNC machine tools i.e. turning, milling, grinding is advantageous

* Education in a relevant Engineering discipline, for example NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations, City & Guilds etc. would be advantageous

* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

* Initiative to work autonomously and manage a busy workload effectively

* Ability to complete standard forms and records accurately and clearly

* Ability to make a contribution to the evaluation and improvement of processes

* Ability to work effectively with colleagues to deliver a service that satisfies expectations

* Ability to identify problems and to seek appropriate assistance in their solution

* Monitoring the availability of laboratory test consumables

* Assisting the ‘booking in’ of jobs

* Contributing to the improvement in the organisation and efficiency of the laboratory by implementing agreed improvement actions

* Carrying out other duties as reasonably requested by the Senior Testing Technician

* Ensuring that the highest standards of cleanliness and housekeeping are maintained

* Undertake and complete training as required

Skills & Qualifications:

* Degree / Diploma in Metallurgy or related discipline

* Experience working in a laboratory in the field of metallurgy testing

* Experience conducting metallurgical-based tests is advantageous

* IT literacy

* Metallurgy or materials degree preferred

* Excellent report writing skill

Job Description: We have exciting opportunities within our client that specialises in high quality timber engineered Roof Trusses, Floor Joists (I beams, metal web joists and glulam beams) and Timber Frames.

We have a number of positions available that are Temp to Perm roles.

Job Spec

Working on the benches constructing roof trusses from timber. The tools used will be hammers and Nail Guns (Training Provided). You will also be trained to use cutting saws. Any experience working with hand held tools is an advantage however not essential.

Working Hours

08:00-16:30 (2x30 minute breaks- 1 is paid) 8 hour paid day

There is also performance related bonus payments (Uncapped) once you reach 12 weeks service.
